Tanning Tips

Before Tanning:

  • Waxing, pedicures and facials should be done at least one day prior to tanning session.
  • Shower and exfoliate prior to your tanning session using a washcloth with a non-oily scrub.  This will sluff off the dead skin cells so that the tan will last longer.  If you are unable to shower just prior to your tanning session, we have wipes to remove makeup and deodorant.
  • No lotions, perfumes and minimal make up and deodorant.  These act as barriers and affect the depth of the tan.
  • Shaving should be done 8 hours prior to tanning.
  • Bring loose dark fitting clothing and flip flops to wear afterwards.  Jeans, tight pants and tight fitting undergarments such as under wire bras or sports bras should not be worn directly after tanning if at all possible.  These garments are made to fit snug, and we don't want them to leave a "tan" line where it wasn't before.

What to wear during your tanning session:  Attire for women is whatever you are comfortable with.  Attire for men is boxers, swim trunks or shorts.  We also offer disposables for men and women.

Be certain to bring a dark-colored bathing suit (or your garment of preference).  Our tanning solution washes out of most clothing but tends to stain light-colored nylon and other light-colored synthetic materials.

If it is raining on the day of your scheduled appointment, please remember there is a curing time of eight hours after being sprayed in which you will not be able to get wet or sweat.  Please wear appropriate clothing to the studio to ensure your skin will not get rained on.

After Tanning:

  • Avoid perspiring, washing hands and other water activities as this may cause it to streak until first shower.
  • Shower in 8-12 hours using alcohol-free shower gel.  You will see the cosmetic bronzer wash off in the shower, this is normal.
  • Moisturize twice a day with alcohol free lotion.  Hydrated skin makes your tan last longer.  Alcohol based products are drying to the skin making the tan fade quicker.
  • Avoid waxing or laser hair removal.  Also avoid body hair bleaching.
  • When you have to shave, make sure to use a sharp razor.
  • Avoid exfoliating and wash cloths
  • Avoid long hot showers/baths and pat dry with a towel after shower.
  • Avoid hot tubs, pools and oceans.  If so, use a waterproof sunscreen to seal it in.
  • Apply sunscreen when UV tanning because your skin is not protected.
