Why get a spray-on tan?

Many people simply don't have the time to bake in the sun to achieve a dark tan.  Spray-on tanning delivers a natual looking tan without the harmful effects of the sun or the tanning bed!

Is spray tanning safe?

YES!  DHA has been used in the cosmetic industry for almost 30 years.  In the 1970's, the FDA added DHA to its lists of safe cosmetic ingrediants.  It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to color the skin.  DHA is derived from glycerin (vegetable origin), which is commonly used as a cosmetic and food ingrediant.  DHA is not absorbed into the body and poses no possibility of toxicity.  However, if you are pregnant or nursing you should check with your doctor prior to booking a tanning appointment.

How long will my "tan" last?

Just as every person is different, ever skin type is different.  Once your "tan" is applied, with moderate care, it should last between 7 to 10 days, depending on your activities and skin type, just like a natural tan.  If a natural tan will fade from your skin in four days, it is reasonable to expect your sunless tan will fade in equal time.  Each person's skin type is different, so fading times and patterns will be different.  Instructions will be given to you at the end of your session to provide you with guidelines on how to maintain your tan as long as possible.

What if my tan "rubs" off?

We typically use a solution that has a built in cosmetic bronzer.  This is colored additive that allows us to see exactly where the solution is being sprayed initially.  When you are able to shower, some of this cosmetic bronzer will come off.  YOU WILL STILL BE TAN!  Be sure to check your tan line to confirm this before you panic and don't see the tan.

Will your solution stain my clothes?

Wool and light colored nylon fabrics are defintely candidates for staining.  Other light colored fabrics, such as cotton, may initially stain, but the solution should wash out easily.  We suggest wearing dark clothing to your tanning session, and remaining in dark clothing until initial reaction time is past and you are able to shower.   Leather and suede are natural skins.  These can be "tanned," just like you!  Extra precaution should be taken when wearing light colored leather or suede clothing, or utilizing leather or suede furniture.

Can I swim and/or work out after my tan?

To make your tan last as long as possible, working out directly following a tanning session is not recommended.  After the initial "curing" of your tan, you may shower, workout, shop, do whatever you would normally do.  We recommend a curing period of eight hours following your session.

Swimming and/or the use of hot tubs/saunas is not recommended with the use of any self-tanning products.  Prolonged exposure of water to the skin allows for loss of tan.  If you are planning these activities, we suggest applying a good, strong waterproof sunscreen prior to submerging yourself.   This will allow your skin to better hold your color.
Am I safe to go in the sun?

Our sunless tanning solution DOES NOT include any sunscreen or protection from the sun.   You must use a sunscreen to protect you!

What about winter?  I don't need an all-over body tan.

At Bronze Mist, we offer a faces only,  face and neck, or basically any combination of "half" tans at very reasonable prices.

What if I have a "Farmer's" tan or lines from a sports bra, golf glove, etc.?

Personalized spray tanning is unique in the way it can manipulate the amount of solution to any specific areas of the body.  If a strapless gown is in your near future, we can apply our products to the whiter areas, then blend the entire area, so it appears as if it is one even tone area.

What should I wear during my session?

We have a full line of disposable garments available for men and women.  There is no extra charge for disposable wear and you will be shown all options before your session.  Disposable garments offer minimal coverage, so if you're modest, we suggest bringing an old or dark colored bathing suit.

Should I shave before my tanning session?

Yes.  It is best to shave about 8 hours before the application.  After your application, be sure to use a new razor as old, dull blades can remove the tanned skin cells.
